xx Suggestion
« Thread started on: Oct 10th, 2012, 08:26am »

So i was thinking about games that are played vs CPU. I believe we should stop playing CPU when gm is away on vacation or because of real life and sim those games instead. I think that player is already "punished" enough with missed games or vacation days and letting people play cpu against his team is just too much considering he will lose 95% of those games. Just look at Jackets, he can`t play because he is in a hospital and he is last in conference. When he gets back he will have no or very little chance to enter playoffs.

I think CPU games should be used only when a player is not responding when contacted and they should be played on the last day of rotation. Since this will probably be 6 seasons league we will have winter and summer vacations which will affect many games and for me it`s a bit stupid that i will know ill lose most of my games during that time.

And since this league is really tight, nobody should say that he deserves to play CPU because he would beat him anyway if he played against the user or bitch about simed result.

What do you think?

I totally agree. Sounds like a great idea. Its awful playing the computer i'd be happy to do this with all my games, to make it fair.

you have to consider though, that people ENJOY playing the game, not waiting on the result of a sim. id rather my PC play when im away, A) so that my opponent can enjoy playing a game. B) because you never know when the pc will pull off an upset.

i see where youre coming from, just offering a different perspective

i guess what im saying is, i wouldnt wanna sim, cause i wouldnt be able to control what my team does. i can handle losing when i play the game, but if i lost in a sim where its just random, id just be bitter i think. to your point of punishment enough with docked vacation days, i agree, but at the same time, its not your opponents fault your gone.

I agree people love to play more then to sim but CPU will rarely pull of an upset in this league. Best example is Jackets prior to taking over by now Edmonton gm. Since the beginning of the league we had little simed games. We played CPU only after several gm backed out and only 1 of them was kicked because of inactivity.

What i am saying here is, if you want to allow people to play against CPU feel free to do so but if you don`t it should be simed, if you have good reasons for not being able to play ofc.

The problem with taking away CPU play is it will punish those who are more active with losses while rewarded those who are away with wins. Also, it would be pretty frustrating if you were the unlucky Gm who had lots of opponents unable to play, and end up having to sim like 30 of yours games... Unlikely but possible.

CPU games deters people from missing games too. If I'm for instance Vancouver (stacked team) vs. say Florida (not so stacked). I might choose to be away because im likely to win the sim.

That was my thinking when I made the rule, but what does everyone else think?

I'm for things the way they are now. I agree that player vs cpu games should be used as a deterrent for people who are unable to play.

Moreover, I find that CPU vs CPU sims lead to ridiculous amounts of injuries. It's bad enough losing a game you could have played, but imagine if your best player gets knocked out for the season completely at random.

Yeah I cringed when I had to sim two games, knowing I'd lose someone to injury, and sure enough I lost 2 D-men. Not for long, but still, that hurts.

I like the way it is now, where we only sim if totally necessary. And I HATE playing the computer.

I think my game agains the NJ Computer in like rotation 3 was probably the 10th game I've played off-line since about NHL09.

Wasn`t aware of the injury problem while siming. Well i see people are not up to it and plus the often injuries, we might leave things as they.

I agree with buffalo as with the new rotations I'm probably gonna miss 10+ Games on my vacation. That's instantly 10 losses. Has anyone even lost against the CPU in this league yet? Especially since people can manually change the sliders to ensure wins.

Whatever, I'll just get Canes to play my games for me.

Hmmm, don't remember seeing that. If so it's still a big chance you will lose though.

with the stupid sliders, you never know if they guy adjusted them or just played and won. If you could lock them it would be fine but with that option its not fair its better off to sim the games IMO
