xx Discussion for the league
« Thread started on: Nov 10th, 2012, 10:56pm »

Wanted to bring this up to the group since there has been talks about it, but wanted to make sure everyone got to give their opinion.
As you know, EDM wants to move to the east and I am willing to switch with him, but we both have players we would like to keep.
EDM's GMs traded away a lot of assets and he will be getting a far superior team with PIT. I made some deals and I have guys with a lot of good potential, so the Pens won't be downgrading in potential. I've discussed some of this with a select few GMs and there are 2 different views.

First the assets that I would would like to keep:
Letang, Frk, my first rounders in 2013 and 2014 (since he doesn't have any good picks in the next 2 years)

He wants to keep:
Hartikainen and Siemens

The views are:

1. If you switch teams and make that trade, that's a super lopsided deal that will get vetoed (of course)

2. Seems ok since the other GM will be getting Crosby, Malkin, Pavelski, Benn, Fleury, Blum, Wilson, etc. while the other side is getting Huberdeau, Kane, Hall and works in progress and plugs.

I can see the point on both sides. My view at the start was the #2, but #1 has some merit. Just wanted to throw it out there. The trade afterwards would be unfair of course, but the other way to look at is what he's gaining in comparison. EX. gaining Malkin as a #2 center as opposed to Belanger. lol

Just throwing it out there. If it gets too complicated or whatever, it'll be squashed and something else ( or nothing) will happen. I'm cool with keeping Pittsburgh. Thanks.

Just curious why switch teams in the first place?

As strange as this is and a very weird devide of assets, I don't really have any problem with it!

Never wanted Pittsburgh to be honest. As weird as it sounds, I think I play better and enjoy the game more as a worse team.

He wants to be in the East.

My issue with it as I mentioned to you through PM is that it provides a way to by-pass the trade system in place. Which could create some problems in the future.

I agree to an extent, that's why I put it to public forum. I doubt an instance will come up THAT often. The pieces fell together kinda well. He wanted to go to the East, he wanted to keep certain players that I didn't want, I wanted a worse team and wanted to keep certain assets that he was willing to leave behind.
Not sure many GMs will want to up and switch teams like that, considering what they invested in it. I'm willing because, as mentioned before, I'm not a big fan of Pittsburgh.
We could go the normal trade procedures and list everything on our teams for trade (minus the ones we want to keep). If that goes through with 3 TAB votes (or with other changes), then we can just switch GM roles.
I'm not sure. As I said, just gettin' some feedback and ideas. Thanks.

I don't reeeally care that much

But I mean, who's to say you would have gotten those players with the team you are switching to?

You know what I mean? Very unrealistic.

I would do it, ( tho the only guy i would really want to keep is Huberdeau) but i understand if other teams feel like it is unfair, especially weaker team. I agreed i would give him his key player, Letang and first rounder, for weaker players. But if other Gms are against it so be it.

I calmed down recently and if i stay in the west my only objective will be to beat Anaheim !! smiley i dont care if detroit beats me anymore lol

I dont mind switching teams. As for trades, you can post them and see if they pass.

Ya, switching teams is not the issue at all. Totally ok in this league (only during off-season though)... The issue is the player swap, given that it does by-pass the trading procedures. If they can move the players in a fair deal which is accepted by TAB's then its all good.

So be it. Looks like we're keeping teams. EDM only really has 3 parts to their team (Kane, Hall and Huberdeau). Losing Huberdeau in the swap (albeit gaining Letang) and losing Crosby, Malkin, Benn, all the picks, etc. doesn't justify the switch.

I do want to play with a lesser team, but I can make the Pens a lesser team....lol

2 big superstars on the block. Malkin and Fleury.
